Andrés Acero is professor in the industrial engineering program at Tecnológico de Monterrey, Puebla. Andrés holds a Ph.D. in Engineering from Universidad de los Andes, Colombia.
He holds a B.S. and M.S. degree in Industrial Engineering from the same academic institution. His research interests are in the area of humanitarian engineering applications, industrial ecology and systems science, ranging from theory to modeling and implementation. In recent years, he has focused on engineering with communities, sustainable production and waste management in emerging economies.
Andrés is an active member of Engineers without Borders Colombia since 2012 and of the Sustainable Development Division of IISE. He was editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Engineering, Social Justice and Peace, as a winner of awards in sustainability (awarded by ISIE in 2016) and in teaching for sustainability (awarded by IISE in 2021).
