D. in Engineering, Operations Research, UNAM.
Research Professor in the Department of Industrial Engineering at the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey Campus Estado de México, he currently acts as National Director of Postgraduate Non-Thesis Option for the School of Engineering and Sciences of the Tecnológico de Monterrey.
Dr. Mora has more than 20 years of experience in the area of Complex Systems and Operations Research as well as their applications to transportation and logistics problems. Dr. Mora received a B.S. degree in Engineering Physics from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana and a Ph.D. degree in Engineering (Operations Research) from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, with honors.
Dr. Mora has been distinguished as a member of the National System of Researchers with Level 1. Dr. Mora is a member of the Mexican Academy of Sciences, the Mexican Academy of Computing and is currently President of the Mexican Association of Logistics. Since 1998 he has published more than 40 articles that have appeared in indexed journals of high impact factor JCR, several chapters in books, and numerous articles in peer-reviewed conference proceedings.
Dr. Mora Vargas has supervised 13 completed master's theses as well as eight doctoral dissertations, all of them concluded with indexed publications. He is currently supervising 3 doctoral dissertations.
Dr. Mora Vargas' research area is the development and implementation of algorithms for the solution of combinatorial problems, based on hybridizations between classical optimization algorithms and advanced artificial intelligence methods (Evolutionary Computation, Simulated Annealing, Swarm Optimization, Bee Colony Optimization and Ant Colony Optimization mainly).
These models have recently been used to solve problems encountered in disaster relief and prevention, particularly in the area of humanitarian logistics.
